iPhone takes Europe by storm
iPhone a 'Top 10 Device' in Western Europe

Throughout Western Europe, particularly Spain and Italy, mobile internet use has doubled since September 2007, according to Admob's Mobile Metrics Report (pdf) for May.

Spain reflects the highest overall percentage of growth, followed by Italy; Ireland saw the least change.

Apple's iPhone became a Top 10 Device in Spain, Germany, France and the Netherlands. In markets where Apple formed an Operator distribution partnership, it ranked in the Top 20.

Other mobile data from the AdMob report:

The RAZR V3, Nokia N70 and Sony Ericsson K800i remain top devices in the US, India and UK respectively.
The Samsung e250 became a top device in South Africa; the Nokia N70 in Indonesia.
Palm's Centro joined the global list of Top 20 Devices as #8. Carrier availability is limited, but favor for the unit is expected to climb as availability broadens.
Symbian dominates dominates 79 percent share of smartphone traffic in Western Europe; Nokia, 30 percent of overall European traffic.
The data was drawn from AdMob's ad serving activities. The company serves about 100 million ads per day worldwide. In May, 230 countries were exposed to AdMob's mobile advertising; 89 of them enjoyed over a million impressions.
