JEAN LUC AMSLER EXPANDS IN FRANCE WITH PARIS BOUTIQUE

By Molly Palm

Paris, France - The fashionable crowd recently their way to celebrate the grand opening of Jean Luc Amsler’s first Parisian boutique at 25 rue du Dragon in the 6 th arrondissement.

Amsler, who shows regularly in Paris , already has several boutiques located in China where he has a strong following. Now, his Parisian clientele has a rendezvous spot too where they can share in the delights.

Upon arrival to the boutique it became clear that this was the place to be. The crowd-with drinks in hand- had already spilled out onto the street. The models- wearing unusual head pieces and black gloves- circulated amongst the guests with the trains of their beautiful dresses close behind them while the DJ spun tunes that had everyone tapping their hands and feet. From the outside looking in, the stark white interior and floor made for an atmosphere in which the clothes stood out- in a really bold manner.

The mannequin in the front window, dressed in a fitted high collared white blouse and an interesting variation of a short black skirt gave an immediate indication as to the predominant color palette and style of the collection that would be found throughout the store. The designer chose to use black and white as the basis of his collection, while incorporating some hot pink, mint green, and silver, into edgy-yet-chic items perfect for both day and night time wear. Embellishments on several pieces are what stood out the most- the black collared floor length dress with large black chunky beads traveling vertically down the front, or the black bustier covered with polished gun metal and purple stones were the pieces that caught everyone’s eye. As for the slinky black tanks, a splash of hot pink gave them an edge- a twisted strap on one and another with a narrow hot pink stripe down the middle certainly puts the idea of ‘a simple black tank’ to rest.

As for the pants and jackets-mostly in black and white- they were certainly reminiscent of riding pants, fitted and to the ankle, and would look great with one of the towering skin pair of heels that were displayed throughout the store in mint green, silver, white, and black.

Let’s not forget about the jewelry- the pieces displayed throughout the store. They are as singular as the clothes themselves. Jewelry designer Alina Alamorean of Alina Alamorean Creations works closely with Jean Luc Amsler and finds inspiration from his sketches and clothes. In fact her massive necklace- an exquisite creation made of unpolished silver wire and fig shaped stones in black sapphire, rose quartz, ruby and various others in hues of green and purple, was created specifically for the black high collared Jean Luc design that she wore the night of the opening. For more a of personal touch, Alina imports for Amsler’s collections stoned that have been mined Madagascar .

All in all, the designing duo have certainly got it right- Jean Luc Amsler’s dramatic emphasis on cut and line and Alina Alamorean’s creativity and attention to detail make for a wardrobe that many will envy.
